Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
