Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51M Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined 51M spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-match series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
